Bangkok was hot and we flew to Istanbul. Now, when I went to school the world ended at Greece. Any place beyond was simply the mysterious east. Turkey wasn’t even on the radar and the only reason we came here was for access to the Greek islands. Well, after we had already bought the tickets to Istanbul we learned about the Schengen agreement. This agreement is among most European Union countries and a few others. Britain and Ireland are excepted. It states that you can only spend 90 days in the whole union in a six-month period. That means that we have to spend more time in Turkey before entering the European Union and this is a good thing. Istanbul is the most photogenic city I’ve ever been to, and I’ve learned that Turkish hospitality is legendary. We are slowly, very very slowly, cycling our way down the Agean coast of Turkey but first, here’s a glimpse of Istanbul.
