We recently spent a brief three days in the Auvergne region of France and were once again completely smitten by not only the this country’s landscapes but by its medieval villages, its hospitality, and not least its cheese. To top the whole trip off we spent the last night in a small, family-run hotel in the Cantal village of Salers. Despite the reasonable price it oozed charm. Our other stops were in Espalion and Estaing. How could a person ever tire of this place?
